Green Business Awards 2011
by: Michael Boardman, Group CFO, Sindicatum Sutainable Resources
Our General Counsel Nick Kelly and I attended yesterday the Green Business Awards 2011 Awards Ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London where Sindicatum was proclaimed the Winner in the two categories we entered:
- Carbon Reduction (methane capture in coal mining)
- Renewable Energy (Bangkok landfill gas to energy)
We are proud of having been chosen as winners by the judges – this is a very prestigious award and participants included major names such as Marks & Spencer, Samsung Electronics, the Co-operative Society and E.On. In our categories, we were up against companies such as Thames Water (the largest water and sewerage company in England with over 14 million customers) Tarmac (a building materials company with over 12,000 employees focusing specifically on products needing sustainable solutions) and Drax Power (the largest power station in Western Europe, with a generating capacity of nearly 4000 megawatts).
The award in the Renewable Energy is particularly poignant, in light of the current dramatic events in Thailand. Sindicatum is contributing to the relief effort in the country not just by continuing to successfully to produce clean power despite the adverse operating conditions but also by contributing financially and materially to the relief effort in our local communities.
